Mary Anna Brown, MA, APCAs human beings we all face different challenges that may bring us into therapy. Different situations may lead you to counseling such as problems with relationships or work. You also may be coming to strengthen certain aspects of your life. My goal as a therapist is to help you accomplish your goals, process trauma, practice compassion towards yourself and others, live free, and understand yourself and those around you.
I graduated with my master’s degree in clinical mental health from Richmont Graduate University. I specialize in depression, anxiety, perfectionism, adolescents and teens, self-esteem, family issues, codependency, self-compassion, spirituality issues, couples, women’s issues, and I have training in marriage and family therapy. I have experience seeing patients in the Emergency Room as a Behavioral Health Assessor. I have seen people from all age ranges and backgrounds to help them get the treatment they need. I use different modalities in therapy such as Attachment Theory, Person-Centered Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and a Depth Perspective. My goal is to provide you a compassionate and nonjudgmental space to grow and heal. During my time at Jacksonville State University, I spent numerous hours studying childhood development and I have experience at places such as Ridgeview Institute, Georgia Highlands College, and the Hope Center. I have a passion for helping children process emotions, and helping parents connect with their children. I believe that one basic need for children is play, and I aim for the therapy room to be fun and healing at the same time. I believe that human beings are walking miracles that are deeply loved by God. I aim to integrate faith into the therapy room if that is something the client desires. This can look different for different people. This may mean that I help the client explore their faith and what brings life to it, look at how God has wired the client and their personality, or help a client in their deconstruction. I am now taking new clients. |
